EICMA Gives New Momentum to the Industry Following Milan Show

EICMA noted an influx of visitors and a noticeable excitement among trade operators at the 71st International Motorcycle Exhibition (EICMA). Authoritative representatives from the institutions in attendance all contributed to confirming the roles of both Italy and EICMA as a model of excellence for two-wheel vehicles, said the company.

The 71st International Motorcycle Exhibition (EICMA) closed its doors on
Sunday, Nov. 10. The influx of visitors increased by 8 percent over the
previous year, as 551,404 people crossed the gates to Fiera Milano –
Rho. The six pavilions and the outdoor arena, extending over an area of
280,000 square meters (approximately 3,013 square feet), hosted 1,408
exhibitors from 38 different countries, 11 international competitions,
600 two-wheel riders and “artists.”

“The results achieved by the 71st edition of the International
Motorcycle Exhibition bear witness to the ferment in our sector, the
manufacturers’ intention to overcome the crisis [and] the public’s
passion about products that embody excellence,” said Antonello Montante,
chairman of EICMA S.p.A. “The presence of qualified institutions
enabled us to reassert that the sector does not ask for mere financial
support, but requires attention and contributions designed to restore
the competitiveness of our companies. We look to simplified regulations,
economic recovery and job growth, and labor reforms. EICMA has proven
itself once again to be a valuable tool that players in our sector can
use to promote new business opportunities and strengthen existing
relations.”

Besides its strong public showing, EICMA exceeded its own expectations
in terms of B2B opportunities. 45,806 trade visitors were present, and
the number of operators from outside Italy increased by 20 percent. In
addition, 6,896 media professionals (journalists, cameramen and
photographers) visited the show, accounting for a 20.5 percent increase.

Among the representatives of the institutions in attendance at EICMA
were the Italian deputy prime minister, the minister of infrastructures
and transportation, the president of Regione Lombardia, the president of
Provincia di Milano and the mayor of Milan.
