UBCO has launched a new rental program that gives Portland, Oregon, residents the opportunity to rent an electric motorbike to explore their city and countryside. Launched on June 17 at UBCO’s Portland Moda Center Hub, UBCO motorbikes are now available to rent hourly, in half-day/day and multi-day periods.
“We’re excited to give locals wider access to Portland with our bikes,” said UBCO Director of Brand Marketing Joey Pleich. “Portland is our North American hub, and we’re hugely committed to the community. We know owning an electric motorbike is not accessible to everyone, and we hope by launching this program, we can give more people the opportunity to experience the thrill of electric adventure and a new way to explore the beautiful surroundings we call home.”
Born in New Zealand, UBCO was founded on the idea of a rugged, all-wheel-drive utility vehicle and has since evolved into a digitally connected electric vehicle (EV) platform. Committed to ethical transport, UBCO’s goal is to help more people experience the joy of a motorized adventure with sustainable and safe vehicles that are designed to be fully reused and recycled. The rental launch follows the announcement late last year of UBCO’s partnership with the Portland Trail Blazers, marking both brands’ alignment in several areas, including emission-free commuting and environmental stewardship; the rental program further cements UBCO’s presence in the Rose City. On the back of the partnership with the Trail Blazers, UBCO has also partnered with Friends of Trees and will commit to planting a tree in Metro Portland for every bike sold this June.
Prices to rent an UBCO bike start from $20. Bikes will be based out of UBCO’s Moda Center Hub at 1 North Center Court St., with UBCO staff onsite to assist in getting started on the bike as well as providing expert advice on the best local trails and day trips. Riders will require a valid driver’s license but do not need to have a motorcycle endorsement. A bonus is any rental cost will be taken off the purchase price of an UBCO should riders decide they want to own a bike of their own.
