Beyond the Sale: Are You Preparing Your Customers For a New Purchase?

The goal of every customer interaction is to secure a sale, but are you offering more to the customer once they walk out of the door?

The goal of every customer interaction is to secure a sale, but are you offering more to the customer once they walk out of the door?

With keys in hand, a new ATV or side-by-side customer may not be aware of the safety precautions to take when operating a recreational off-highway vehicle (ROV).

As a dealer, you can offer resources to a new customer to make sure that they are prepared for the ride.

The Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle Association gives a wealth of information about ROVs, land access and education on vehicle safety on their website.

ROHVA recommends seven ROV safety rules for all drivers:

1. Always fasten your seat belt. Wear a helmet and other protective gear and keep all parts of your body inside the ROV.

2. Avoid paved surfaces. ROVs are designed to be operated off-highway.

3. Drive only in designated areas, at a safe speed and use care when turning and crossing slopes.

4. Never drive or ride under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

5. Follow age requirements for driving vehicles according to the manual.

6. Never carry more passengers than the ROV is designed for, and never allow a passenger who is too small to sit in a passenger seat to ride in the ROV.

7. Read and follow the operator’s manual and warning labels.

ROHVA also assists riders with a free Basic Driver E-Course on their website.

Other than information, have you offered a new customer helmets, gloves, apparel or tires? What can you offer your customers to enhance their ride?

By reaching out to customers with resources about their purchases, it will build a relationship that encourages an additional sale of safety equipment that will motivate them to make future purchases at your dealership.
