Ken Roczen Clinches the 2016 AMA Pro Motocross Championship at Budd’s Creek

Bel-Ray sponsored racer, Ken Roczen of RCH Suzuki Factory Racing team, clinched first place in the AMA Motocross National Championship, securing his title as the 2016 450MX AMA Pro Motocross Champion with his 1-1 finish at Budds Creek National.

Bel-Ray sponsored racer, Ken Roczen of RCH Suzuki Factory Racing team, clinched first place in the AMA Motocross National Championship, securing his title as the 2016 450MX AMA Pro Motocross Champion with his 1-1 finish at Budds Creek National.

After getting the holeshot in the first moto, Roczen was able to jump out to an early lead. Within the first 10 minutes of the moto, Roczen widened the gap to 13 seconds ahead of his second place competitor, earning the victory for the first moto. During the second moto, Roczen maneuvered his way into the lead by the end of the first lap, a position he would not relinquish, ending the second moto with a 23-second margin of victory. Roczen secured his 1-1 finish and overall for the day and clinched the 2016 AMA Pro Motocross Championship with one round remaining.

Roczen goes into the final round of the 2016 season with 534 overall points, 76 points ahead of his closest competitor. Entering today’s race, he had seven overall victories, including the first race of the season at Hangtown National and last Saturday’s race at the Unadilla National. Roczen’s lead for the season continued to increase with each race; by the fourth race he had a 27-point lead over the second place competitor. His lead rose to 41 points with his seventh moto win at High Point National and he continued to maintain the red plate as the series points leader.
