American Motorcyclist Association Celebrates Memorial Day

The American Motorcyclist Association joins all Americans this Memorial Day, May 26, in expressing deep gratitude to the families and friends of those who gave their lives in service to the United States and in honoring their memories.

"The freedoms that we enjoy, as motorcyclists and as Americans, came at great personal cost and sacrifice and are defended daily by military personnel dedicated to protecting our principles," said Rob Dingman, AMA president and CEO. "It is important to pause and reflect on Memorial Day, remembering those who helped make possible the freedoms we too often take for granted, including the freedom to ride and travel throughout this great nation."

With the increased travel over Memorial Day Weekend, the AMA also encourages motorists to be alert to motorcyclists, who will be on the road to participate in AMA-sanctioned events, memorial parades and freedom rides or simply to visit family and friends.

"Distracted driving already presents a grave danger to motorcyclists, as well as to pedestrians and others on the roads," Dingman said. "With the roadways more crowded with holiday travelers, we urge extra caution for everyone in an effort to ensure a safe a Memorial Day weekend."
