Bell Helmets has announced the reintroduction of the original Moto-3 helmet. Bell will maintain the authentic, original styling of the classic Moto-3 helmet but with modern materials and safety certifications.
The new Moto-3 has the same shape and proportion as the original, but with upgraded features. The iconic 8-slot, slanted vents now feature a 3D formed stainless steel grill and the five-snap 550 visor is now molded in impact resistant polypropylene polymer. The overall comfort has also been enhanced with contoured check pads, and the classic terry cloth interior has been upgraded to an antimicrobial plus antibacterial liner that’s removable and washable. The helmet also offers multi-density EPS, where the original only allowed for single-density, and is complete with Bell’s proprietary fiber composite shell, and meets DOT/ECE standards.
In addition to modern safety features, Bell is continuing its long-standing tradition of being at the forefront of style and design with the “Artist Series.” Among the helmets in this series are special designs from iconic brands such as RSD, Chemical Candy and Independent, which will include a leather, suede interior.

The Moto-3 first debuted in the late 1970s as a prototype made for racers such as Bob Hannah to replace the Bell Moto Star, and has since been a signature of the Bell Helmets collection. The original helmet was well ahead of its time with a Snell certification, and became the inspiration for a number of motocross helmets that followed. Along with the Moto Star, the Moto-3 started a long line of purpose-built, industry-leading “Moto” models all the way through today’s industry-leading Moto-9 Flex.
