In cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), KYMCO USA is advising its vehicle owners and the general public of a potential safety defect found on some UXV 500 model UTVs.
The company says the recall affects UXV 500/500i, UXV 500/500i LE and UXV 500/500i SE models produced from 2009 to 2011, and a limited number of 2012 models are also affected. A potential hazard may exist, according to KYMCO, that can cause a fire and lead serious injury or death if not repaired by an authorized KYMCO dealer.
The company says there is an area of the exhaust system that is exposed between the cargo bed and the engine cowling that could allow combustible materials to ignite and cause a fire.
KYMCO USA is advising its customers to stop operation of this UTV until the proper repair has been performed. Vehicle owners may contact authorized dealers to set up and appointment or call 888-235-3417 or by email at [email protected] for assistance.
