With the Monster Energy AMA Supercross now underway, Feld Motor Sports recently announced that Motorcycle Mechanics Institute (MMI) has returned to serve as the official technical institute of Monster Energy Supercross for the next two years.

As part of MMI’s involvement, they will once again reward the top-performing mechanic at the conclusion of each supercross race with the MMI Top Tech award of $500. Top Tech award recipients, who against all odds, helped their rider qualify for the main event will be showcased at the closing of the night’s racing action. At the conclusion of the 17-race season, the championship’s top technician will be awarded the prestigious MMI Champion’s Mechanic award.

“We are excited to have MMI back on board to commemorate the performance of Monster Energy Supercross’ top technicians through the MMI Top Tech award,” said Dave Prater, director of supercross. “Monster Energy Supercross is the ideal platform for MMI to showcase the exciting programs offered through their institution, so we are pleased to help connect aspiring mechanics to their goals of working in the realm of motor sports.”

Throughout the 2012 Monster Energy Supercross season, MMI will also be offering fans the opportunity to win a Suzuki GSX-R600 street bike. For additional information on how to register, visit the MMI kiosks throughout the concourse and pits at Monster Energy Supercross races.

The alliance between Monster Energy Supercross and MMI has launched the careers of several aspiring supercross/motocross mechanics. Of the top teams in supercross, nearly 25% of their mechanics are MMI graduates.
