A wide array of event features will entertain, challenge and educate participants at this year’s Adventure Rally & Camp in Julian, California, Thursday, Nov. 3 through Saturday, Nov. 5.
Over 100 points of interest, plus 40 new locations to ride and discover, will be part of the Adventure Rally this year. Teams of two or more will embark on the scavenger hunt-style competition, riding through scenic and challenging terrain. Participants have the option to ride one day or all three days.
Training classes will again be offered during the 2022 edition of the Adventure Rally & Camp. Classes are scheduled on Thursday, Nov. 3 and Friday, Nov. 4 for beginner riders as well as intermediate/advanced riders.
The intermediate/advanced rider’s class will be led by motorcycle legends Scot Harden and Quinn Cody. The class includes a classroom rider training seminar followed by a 26-mile ride encompassing Oriflamme Gorge. Lance Thomas, who spent five years as coach at BMW’s off-road Riding Academy, will be teaching the Beginner ADV Skills Class.
Participants will receive bonus points in the overall Adventure Rally competition as credit for points of interest along the route when taking a Skills class.
Vendor Row will feature industry-leading brands, showcasing new products and services, with many offering special “Event-only” pricing and even “Try, Before You Buy” demos.
Harley Davidson returns this year with a full fleet of Pan America to test ride. Yamaha will be at this year’s Adventure Rally on Vendor Row, offering free demo rides on the new Super Tenere, Tenere 700 and the XT250 models. Kawasaki also will be on-hand with bikes available for test rides.
Alpinestars will be on-site hosting product demos for the all-new Tech Air 3 air bag system, helmets, boots, jackets and more. Rocky Mountain ATV/Motorcycle, a first-time sponsor and participant, will have parts, accessories, riding gear, tires and a wide array of these items on display. Shark, Nolan, Barkbusters, Motoz, LGP, Nelson-Rigg and more will also be a part of Vendor Row.
Moto games will again be part of the Adventure Rally this year. A collection of fun and challenging games will test participants’ skills on a motorcycle. Extra points will be awarded for those who participate, and the best team in the games will be crowned the Moto Games Champions.
Along with teaching a riders Skills Class, Lance Thomas will be returning to the Adventure Rally with his mobile Blacksmithing booth. In the evenings, starting at 4 p.m., Thomas will be conducting blacksmithing demonstrations at his booth. Participants who would like to try their hand at blacksmithing can do so for $20.
Also this year, the Kurt Caselli Foundation will be the beneficiary of the proceeds from the annual Adventure Rally Raffle. The focus of the foundation is the safety of riders and racers in off-road motorcycling. The foundation has a three-part mission that encompasses safety precautions for riders before, during and after a racing career and has raised $1.6 million dollars since the foundation was created.
Daddy’s Famous Foods will handle all of the campground dining needs for participants who signed up for the food package. The offerings include a Wednesday Welcome Dinner, Thursday breakfast and dinner, Friday breakfast and dinner, Saturday breakfast and dinner, and Sunday grab-and-go breakfast. Tap Truck, a mobile bar service, will again be a part of Adventure Rally this year, offering cold beverages.
The Adventure Rally & Camp is a three-day challenge for riders of any skill level and their bikes. During the day, riders take part in self-navigated scenic trail rides and look for elusive checkpoints laid out by the Adventure Rally & Camp staff. At night, competitors build camaraderie, along with industry guests, often around a campfire with movies, music and cold beverages.
Teams will take part in challenges on the trails as well in special tests during the Adventure Rally & Camp. The special tests are conducted at the Stagecoach Trails Base Camp and are designed to test riders overall adventure skills.
The 2022 Adventure Rally & Camp will wrap up with an awards celebration and party in the evening on Saturday, Nov. 5, with numerous awards being handed out.
