Strider Joins Sturgis Buffalo Chip CrossRoads Charity Breakfast

The custom Strider Riders will be unveiled at the 2018 breakfast as the first stop on their year-long tour.

Riders who come to the Black Hills of South Dakota in August should plan ahead to be at the Flying Piston Charity Breakfast. This celebrity-strewn meet and greet will be held on Sunday, Aug. 5, bringing together cutting edge custom builders and industry influencers to support veterans suffering from PTSD and to provide technical education scholarships.

New this year is the Strider Rider custom project that will make an appearance at the charity breakfast in August.

Strider Sports International, maker of balance bikes that inspire kids to ride, sent seven Strider bikes to top name builders. The resulting custom Strider Riders will be unveiled at the 2018 breakfast as the first stop on their year-long tour. Builders include Rick Fairless, Paul Yaffe, Jody Perewitz, Pat Patterson, Kirk Taylor, Bryan Fuller and Donnie Smith. Loaded Gun’s Kevin Dunworth and his twin six-year-old daughters customized and donated their Striders, too.

In addition to an exclusive first look at the Strider Riders, Builder Breakfast ticket holders also enjoy a catered breakfast and silent auction of selected items autographed by the builders—plus the chance to meet the Chip’s own Rod “Woody” Woodruff, photographer Michael Lichter, Moonshiner Josh Owens and the seven Strider Rider builders. Get autographs from Counts Kustoms’ Shannon, Ryan and Horny Mike of History Channel’s Counting Cars. Cycle Source Editor Chris Callen and Bikernet.com editor Keith “Bandit” Ball will be on hand plus all of the builders whose work is displayed in the Buffalo Chip’s invitation-only 2018 Motorcycles As Art Exhibition: Passion Built, curated by Michael Lichter.

This year’s Motorcycles As Art theme features over 35 non-pro designers, fabricators and builders. The list includes Ben Jordan, Nick Pensabene, Brad Gregory, Kevin Baas, Skeeter Todd, Christian Newman, Jeff Holt, Tim Dixon, Gilby Clarke and more. Presented in a gallery-like setting at the Chip’s Russ Brown Event Center, the motorcycles are accompanied by artwork from known and emerging artists. Admission is free.

The Builder Breakfast, organized by The Flying Piston, takes place Sunday, Aug. 5, on the upper deck of the Big Engine Bar in the free-access CrossRoads at the Buffalo Chip. Silent auction items are provided by Harley-Davidson Footwear, Kicker Audio, Biltwell, Revere Seats, Artist Darren McKeag, Low Brow, Artist Atomic Bob, CruzTools, Corbin, Aeromach, The Quarto Group, Kuryakyn and more.

A limited number of Flying Piston Builder Breakfast tickets are on sale now for $20 each at http://www.theflyingpiston.com. Proceeds benefit Motorcycle Missions, which encourages U.S. military veterans suffering from PTSD to pursue motorcycling careers and tech ed scholarships for regional high schoolers.
