The 2016 AMA Fast Brain Award, which recognizes a young racer whose motorcycling talents are matched by classroom performance, will be presented on July 6 at the conclusion of the 2016 Suzuki AMA Dirt Track Grand Championship in Du Quoin, Ill.

The AMA Fast Brain award is funded by contributions from AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer Bill Werner of Bill Werner Racing, Zanotti Racing’s Dave Zanotti, AMA Life Member Stan Simpson, Tom Seymour of Saddlemen motorcycle accessories, AMA supporter and friend of the AMA David Coovert and others, who wish to remain anonymous.
“Young racers who display great aptitude and dedication in the classroom, as well as determination on the track, deserve recognition and rewards,” said AMA Track Racing Manager Ken Saillant. “Through the generosity of our sponsors, we are fortunate to be able provide funds that will help one promising racer with educational expenses.”
In addition to racing for AMA National No. 1 plates, the top competitors at the event vie for the AMA Dirt Track Horizon Award. The AMA Dirt Track Horizon Award recognizes the amateur dirt tracker who demonstrates the greatest potential for success at the professional level. An application for the award is available at www.americanmotorcyclist.com.
Awards are also given for the AMA Youth Dirt Track Racer of the Year and the AMA Vet/Senior Dirt Track Racer of the Year.
