Greg’s Garage voice, writer and editor, Greg White, will serve as the host of AIMExpo. His primary role will be to host the AIMExpo Media Hub during the trade days, and he will host the presentation stage during the consumer days.

Motorcycle Industry Council Adds Newest Member to Dealer Advisory Council

Rick Alcon, owner of R&S Powersports Group in Albuquerque, N.M., joins seven other members of the newly formed council.
Intended to represent the needs and interests of new dealer members, the council was implemented with the MIC’s decision to include dealers in its membership for the first time since 1974.

Geared Up Powersports is a California Limited Liability company owned by longtime LeoVince USA Executive Vice President Tim Calhoun. The company will continue to operate under the LeoVince USA name, with Calhoun stepping into the role of CEO and president.

ARI Names David Valentine Director of OEM Sales

Most recently, Valentine served as vice president of sales for gFAXX, an online business intelligence source focused on the construction and agriculture industries. Prior to joining gFAXX, he was the national sales manager for PowerSports Network and RV Web Services. He will be responsible for all of ARI’s sales activities for manufacturers in the automotive tire and wheel, powersports, outdoor power equipment, marine, RV and white goods
industries.

Motorcycle Industry Council Adds Two Members to Dealer Advisory Council

Jerry Lenz, general manager of Beaverton Motorcycles in Tigard, Ore., and Rick Rizzon, owner of Rizzon Cycle in Middlesex, N.J,, are the newest additions to what will eventually be an eight-member advisory council to MIC’s new dealership member class. Thus far, 252 dealers in 41 states, representing 176 out of 436 congressional districts, have joined the MIC.

Bell Helmets Appoints Industry Veteran to EMEA Sales and Marketing Position

Ash Kane spent 12 years in international sales for Fox, during which point he helped grow the company nearly seven-fold from 1996 to 1997. He will be responsible for the day-to-day management of Bell’s EMEA distributors and related sales forces, while simultaneously working to develop new distribution channels.

EVS Sports Hires New Brand Manager

Taz Sobotka, a graduate from Florida State University with a B.S. in marketing, brings a lifelong passion for motorcycles and racing to his new position. His responsibilities include the management and delivery of sales and marketing materials for distributors, along with driving sales growth through building and maintaining genuine partnerships with distributors and dealers. He is based out of EVS Sports’ central office in Walworth, Wis.

AMA Hall of Fame Motocross Champion Broc Glover will host the Breath Easy Ride-In Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in Del Mar, Calif. With Del Mar as the destination, celebrity ride captains will guide groups of Breathe Easy Ride-In participants to a fun, day-long motorcycle extravaganza near the Pacific Ocean on the grounds of the historic Del Mar Racetrack/Fairgrounds.

Harley-Davidson Designer Teams Up with MDA Ambassador to Raise Money for Muscular Dystrophy Awareness

Reagan Imhoff, ambassador for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, teamed up with artist Mathew Hintz to create an original painting of a purple Softail Breakout, which brought in $3,500 at the MDA auction during Harley-Davidson’s 110th Anniversary Celebration. The pair hopes to raise even more with sales of the limited edition, signed prints, available through www.hintzstudios.com.

Kenny Roberts Named American International Motorcycle Champion

In this role, Roberts will serve as the proverbial face of AIMExpo, joining in the celebration of the inaugural show with the entire powersports marketplace – industry, trade, media and consumers. In addition, show producer Marketplace Events Motorcycle Group has commissioned a Star Bolt by Yamaha in Robert’s now famous yellow “track-graphic” livery, which will be given away at AIMExpo.

‘American Pickers’ Star Frank Fritz to Appear at AIMExpo

The co-star of the History Channel’s popular series will appear at the inaugural event, where he’ll host two exclusive presentations and meet & greet sessions. Fritz will be discussing the value of and his love for collectible and vintage motorcycles, as well as showcasing a portion of his personal collection Oct.18-19 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.
