The Royal Enfield Build. Train. Race. (BTR) Flat Track program held the first race of the 2024 season at the Daytona Short Track in Daytona Beach. With four days of training and practice followed by two days of racing, it was a riveting start to what is sure to be another exciting season of camaraderie and competition.
Taia Little and Kenzie Luker battled for first place on both race days. On day one, Little won after a tight competition, with Luker only 1.805 seconds behind. In the first race of her BTR career, Mya Maffei earned a third-place finish. On the second day of racing, Luker grabbed the win in a neck-and-neck race over Little by just 0.275 seconds. Maffei earned a second trip to the podium in as many races. Beyond the results on the scoreboard, it was a promising start for the entire field as they embark on the 2024 season.
“We have a mix of new and returning riders with different backgrounds and experiences, but what everyone in BTR shares is a passion for the motorcycles that they’ve built,” said Adrian Sellers, head — custom and motorsport at Royal Enfield. “What makes Royal Enfield’s BTR program so special is the willingness of the riders to support one another through feedback and fierce competition. It’s going to be a great season, and we’re looking forward to watching our racers grow.”
Now in its fifth season, Royal Enfield’s Build. Train. Race. program is the first of its kind — an all-woman initiative that teaches building and racing motorcycles. The program format brings riders together from various backgrounds to compete in different track events, uniquely highlighting women and motorcycle culture in North America.
The racers will be back again for Flat Track races on April 27 at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas; May 11 at the Ventura Raceway in Ventura, California; and at the Black Hills Speedway on Aug. 6 in Rapid City, South Dakota. BTR’s Road Racing events are scheduled for June 2 at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin; June 30 at Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton, Washington; and Aug. 18 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio.
