Niterra North America Inc., formerly known as NGK Spark Plugs U.S.A. Inc., is starting construction at its Sissonville, West Virginia, campus to expand operations. While improving operations, the new structure strengthens its commitment to the state of West Virginia.
The honorable Jim Justice, governor of West Virginia, expressed enthusiasm about expanding Niterra’s facility in Kanawha County, mentioning the company’s long-standing commitment to the people of West Virginia.
The Sissonville campus, established in 1994, houses the NGK Spark Plug and NTK oxygen sensor assembly plants. Initially, it had 90 permanent jobs, which have grown to over 500 full-time and 70 temporary jobs. The expansion of this campus will add 75,000 square feet of space and about 30 new positions.
Michael Schwab, Niterra’s regional president and CEO, emphasized the company’s dedication to investing in its employees and the communities in which it operates. Despite facing the challenges of economic downturns and the COVID-19 pandemic, Niterra did not lay off or furlough any of its associates. It has even encouraged its employees to volunteer in the community and paid them to do so. Niterra remains committed to contributing to the economic growth of Sissonville and West Virginia.
In addition to the groundbreaking ceremony, Niterra will promote its sustainability efforts by working with One Tree Planted, a new partner, to plant a commemorative tree on campus and donate 1,000 trees to the community.
