The CRF250R is completely redesigned for 2022, Honda announced. The all-new model features engine and chassis changes leading to improved acceleration on corner exits, increased agility and better endurance over a race distance.
Honda engineers introduced many updates that raise the bar for usable power, handling and durability. The updates boost engine performance, increase toughness and cut weight. The redesigned engine produces more low-rpm torque without sacrificing usable top-end power, resulting in a broader powerband. Chassis updates delivered weight savings and improve ergonomics while preserving the model’s handling prowess. A new exhaust system and additional lightened components result in a reduction of 8 pounds, for a 229-pound vehicle curb weight. In addition, an improvement in durability resulted from a reexamination of the engine, cooling system and drive components. Improvements are also seen in the clutch.
Each of the CRF250R’s updates are transferred to the 2022 CRF250RX, whose closed-course, off-road realm is an application for the increased low-end power. The CRF250RX also has model-specific features to provide appropriate suspension performance, power delivery, fuel range, hand protection and convenience.
While focus is on the all-new 2022 CRF250R and CRF250RX, Honda also announced the returning CRF150R and CRF150R Big Wheel. The CRF Trail lineup, such as the CRF250F, CRF125F and CRF125F Big Wheel, will also be returning.
