New for 2012, Firstgear’s Kathmandu jacket and overpant were redesigned with the dual sport rider in mind. Using three years of rider feedback as a blueprint for the design, the 2012 model is still lightweight and tough. Made of a 300 denier high density nylon shell, it features the advanced D30 armor in the elbows and shoulders. The 420 denier rip-stop nylon provides protection where it counts while keeping the jacket flexible. Other improvements include the new slide lock adjustment in the collar that allows up to 1-1/2 inches adjustment for a personalized fit around the neck. This year’s model still includes the 1.5-liter hydration bladder with removable backpack, as well as the under-the-helmet rain hood. The Overpant received requested pockets and an over-the-boot fit for off-road riders and also includes the new D30 armor in the hips and knees.
