Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Forkner and McAdoo Start Season with Double Podium

They finished second and third respectively.

The opening round of the Eastern Regional 250SX class at U.S. Bank Stadium didn’t disappoint with Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Austin Forkner and Cameron McAdoo earning second and third place respectively. Teammate Jett Reynolds was unable to compete after sustaining an injury prior to Saturday’s race.

Forkner started the day as the top qualifier, giving him a great confidence boost going into the evening. His heat started well, but a few mistakes cost him positions, finishing fourth. At the drop of the gate for the main event, Forkner shot out and claimed the first holeshot of the season. He fell back to second, but stayed with the leader for the entire race, finishing just a few seconds back.

“I didn’t quite have the pace at the beginning but was able to match it during the middle of the race,” said Forkner. “Whenever I made up a few tenths, so would he, so I just couldn’t quite catch back up. Overall, I am really happy to start the season off like this, especially with a start like that. That start was how I remember 2019 and 2020 and probably what I’m most pumped about with the race.”

McAdoo was able to overcome a tough start to the day, showing his perseverance to really be a contender for the championship. He qualified sixth and then was sixth in his heat race. McAdoo was able to figure out what he was missing by the main event, shooting out to third behind his teammate, where he stayed until the checkered flag.

“It was definitely a great way to start the season,” said McAdoo. “I struggled in qualifying and had a tough heat race. The track just changed a lot and I was focused on being locked in, hitting all my marks. There are a few areas where I know we could work on, which makes me excited to come out for the Triple Crown next weekend in Texas.”
