Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA announced new updates to the 2022 Zuma 125 scooter, offering rugged styling and fuel efficient power in a compact and budget-friendly package.
Yamaha Blue Core VVA 125cc Engine
The new 2022 Zuma 125 is equipped with Yamaha’s Blue Core 125cc liquid-cooled, four-stroke, single-cylinder engine, delivering excellent fuel efficiency and significant power for its compact size, using a SOHC 4-valve head with 11.2:1 compression ratio, a DiASil cylinder and an aluminum alloy forged piston. The Zuma 125’s engine features Yamaha’s Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology, changing valve timing at different rpm, for linear acceleration, strong torque at lower speeds, and power that lasts into the top-end. Power is delivered through the fully automatic V-belt transmission with a centrifugal clutch to provide easy, twist-the-throttle-and-go operation with great off-the-line acceleration.
Rugged and Rigid Chassis
For stability and rigidity, the 2022 Zuma 125 is built with a light but strong steel-tube frame that features a step-through design for easy mounting. A strong steel engine bracket with rubber bushing linkage contributes to a comfortable ride and reduced vibration. For added comfort, a telescopic fork features beefy outer tubes for strength, while fork boots help protect the large 33mm inner tubes from debris. The rear wheel swingarm features twin rear shocks with a full 3.1 inches of travel for comfortable riding both on streets and on unpaved roads.
Further supporting the Zuma 125’s handling are the new DURO tubeless fat tires, which feature an aggressive block pattern combined with newly designed lightweight wheels. Plenty of stopping power is offered by the 245mm hydraulic front disc and 230mm rear disc brakes while the wave-type front rotor design adds cutting-edge style. With a unified brake system, the rear brake lever applies some braking force to the front brake, while keeping the front brake from operating alone, for safe and smooth-controlled stops.
Modern Design
New rugged asymetric headlights with easily adjustable beams optimize view angles for a wide range of riders. The Zuma 125’s stylish LCD meter features a fuel gauge, clock, oil change indicator, trip meter 1 and 2, as well as a full range of indicator lights with easy-to-read visibility. Cavernous underseat storage is roomy enough for a full-face helmet and two helmet hangers. The front storage compartment is equipped with an electric USB-A socket allowing riders to conveniently charge devices on the go.
