originalPreviewJW-2

The international custom building scene has been integrated into INTERMOT 2016 as a standalone “show-within-a-show” format under the name “INTERMOT customized,” that will be presented on a special stage. In addition to the many custom V-twins, a new wave of cafe racers and other modern adaptations will also be showcased.

Exhibitors in the Customized show will include BMW, Harley-Davidson, Kawasaki, Triumph, Yamaha and also Boss Hoss, as well as Concept Store from Craftrad, Nolan and Rusty Pistons from the apparel segment, among others. Custom Chrome Europe, Motorcycle Storehouse and Detlev Louis will also be exhibiting parts and accessories for the customizing segment. Conversions and concept bikes will be on display from WalzWerk Racing, Fred Kodlin, No Limit Custom and Hells Kitchen Choppers.

This new segment is supported by a host custom builders and industry professionals making it appealing to both the general public and custom builder alike. The “customized stage” with expert speakers, interviews and music will be the central element.

In the Garage Area, professionals will be working on project bikes ensuring every step in the process is clearly explained and demonstrated. Tasks like changing the footrests, handlebars, headlights and indicators will be as expertly explained and performed such as shaping and fitting a fuel tank. The area even includes a mobile spray booth. Visitors can watch over the shoulders of professionals while they go about their work, can enquire about tips and tricks and come away with valuable words of advice for their own projects.

In addition to the custom presentations, INTERMOT and Glemseck 101, will launch the “Essenza” competition: hot two-cylinder motorcycle conversions, reduced down to just the essential components, highlighting the unique characteristics of their respective brands. This is where the big-name motorcycle brands take on small custom bike shops, aiming to take a podium place in the 1/8-mile sprint and design competition.

Following an initial performance of the sprint at Glemseck 101, the final takes place at INTERMOT, along with the presentation of prizes to the winners. Online voting is open to the public from the Glemseck festival up until INTERMOT. Enthusiasts at INTERMOT can experience the power of the Essenza bikes in person on Saturday 8 October 2016: with the 1/8-mile sprints on the track. And on Sunday, the spectacular Sultans of Sprint will be highlighting their power and innovation.

Also taking place this year as a part of INTERMOT customized will be the AMD Championship of Custom Bike Building. It is here that the “who’s who” of custom builders will be putting themselves before an international jury with their spectacular creations. The world championship focuses mainly on the V-twin category, but also will include cafe racers.

Rounding off INTERMOT customized will be the “Naked Bike” show, hosted by Roadster magazine. This is where visitors can get a closer look at unclad motorcycles in a brand-independent presentation, sit on them and get a firsthand feel for these motorcycles.

In addtion to the Custom show areas within INTERMOT 2016, other special sections include the following:

INTERMOT e-motion
The subject of electric vehicles will be getting a new look. Like the Custom section, “e-motion” was also developed as a forward-looking, standalone show-within-a-show format. Here visitors can experience the whole world of electric mobility on two wheels: from brand-new pedelecs, e-bikes and e-scooters to innovative e-motors for retrofitting and a wide range of accessories.

Besides a significantly expanded offering, there will be a tourism area for interested visitors. Various regions will be presenting the advantages and opportunities of electric mobility in the tourism sector on a joint stand. In cooperation with W&L multimedia solutions GmbH, experts in the field of tourism will be presenting their region, including, among others, the Hohe Tauern National Park and East Tyrol, Steigerwald, Magdeburg, Görlitz, Bautzen and East Belgium.

The programme of stage events hosted by trade magazine Elektrorad (electric bike) will provide comprehensive information on the subject of electromobility: from advice on buying to safety. Industry topics that were previously addressed at the LEV (Light Electric Vehicle) conference have also been integrated here. In this way, at INTERMOT e-motion, talks and information on the subjects of pedelecs and e-bikes will be more accessible for industry, trade and the general public.

Of course, the fun of riding and advice about the machines are not neglected at INTERMOT e-motion. The latest models can be tried out on the e-bike and e-scooter test track.

INTERMOT Quad – Area 4
An area dedicated to UTVs and ATVs will provide a market overview and general insight into these vehicles. This is where quad specialists and manufacturers will showcase their product ranges divided thematically into four areas: sport/off road, utility vehicles, touring, and custom. “Area 4” will be established in Hall 6 where first, a number of manufacturers will be located and second, direct access to the quad test-ride track and the quad stunt shows is provided.

Boulevard of Touring
The “Boulevard of Touring” runs centrally along the northern section of the Boulevard at INTERMOT. It will highlight the topics of touring and tourism. Touring motorcycles parked in the themed areas invite visitors to sit on them and try them out. Experts from the touring rider magazine Tourenfahrer will be providing information about the touring motorcycles on display and will offer ideas and suggestions for travel plans. On the Touring stage, an interesting around-the-clock program of events are scheduled.

INTERMOT runs from October 5 – 9, 2016, and features the latest motorcycles, scooters, e-bikes as well as the most important developments in electric mobility, accessories, clothing, parts, customizing, tourism and shop equipment will be showcased on the Koelnmesse exhibition grounds.
