The American Motorcyclist Association has announced GEICO as a Platinum Sponsor for the 2014 American Honda AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Friday, Oct. 17, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.

The American Motorcyclist Association has announced GEICO as a Platinum Sponsor for the 2014 American Honda AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Friday, Oct. 17, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.

"We want to thank GEICO for their longstanding support of professional motorcycle racing in America," said Jeff Massey, AMA chief operations officer. "We’re honored that they have chosen to help us shine the spotlight on the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame’s Class of 2014."

Added Ted Ward, GEICO vice president: "Motorcycle racing has one of the most passionate fans bases in all of sports. This exciting sponsorship of the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame gives us a unique opportunity to build GEICO’s brand awareness and raise our exposure throughout the motorcycle racing community."

Some of the best motorcycle racers in the world compete on America’s AMA Supercross and Motocross tracks. Over the years, the athletic talent in this sport has been world-class. This year, GEICO’s own Mike LaRocco will officially join an elite group of race professionals in the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame.

LaRocco, who currently manages the GEICO Honda Supercross/Motocross Team, had one of the longest professional racing careers in American motorcycling. He won the 1993 AMA 500 National Motocross Championship, the 1994 AMA National Motocross Championship and the 2000 FIM Supercross World Championship.

In addition to LaRocco, the Class of 2014 also includes race tuner and innovator Byron Hines; motocross pioneer Pierre Karsmakers; Tom White, acclaimed motorcycle collector, former nationally ranked racer and founder of White Brothers Cycle Specialties; George Barber, founder of the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum and the Barber Motorsports Park; national off-road racing champion Scott Summers; and legendary tuner and team owner Rob Muzzy.

The event will also honor the career of existing Hall of Famer William "Willie G." Davidson, a member of the Hall of Fame Class of 1999. Davidson will be recognized as an AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Legend at this year’s event.

The American Honda AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is part of the AMA National Convention being held in conjunction with the American International Motorcycle Expo (AIMExpo) Oct. 16-19.

Tickets for the American Honda AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony range from $25 to $150 and are available online at www.motorcyclemuseum.org/events/halloffame2014.aspx.
