U.S. House Retains NHTSA Motorcycle Lobbying Ban

The U.S. House of Representatives approved a bill late Tuesday that reaffirms Congress’ intent to prohibit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration from lobbying states and state legislators on motorcycle safety matters, the American Motorcyclist Association reports.

Fifty-Five U.S. Lawmakers Sign On To End Motorcycle-Only Checkpoints

Fifty congressmen and five senators have signed on to sponsor or cosponsor bills that would end federal funding for motorcycle-only checkpoints, the American Motorcyclist Association reports. During the past two years, more than a half million dollars have been spent on motorcycle-only checkpoints.

AMA Calls For Overhaul of Failed Renewable Fuel Standard

Wayne Allard of the AMA said the Renewable Fuel Standard is a failed strategy during the National Renewable Fuel Standard “Day of Action,” organized to urge the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to maintain its proposed 2014 renewable volume obligation and for Congress to take up legislative reform that would permanently address the problems inherent in the current RFS.
