Helmet House announced that on Sept. 4, they were sold to a new ownership group and are transitioning to a new leadership team to take the company to the next level.

In a letter from Bob Miller and Phil Bellomy:

For more than fifty years, the two of us have enjoyed incredible success with Helmet House. Now, as the company heads into its next half-century, we move forward with a fresh new ownership structure, including Dave Bertram, Scott Link, Don Becklin and Randy Hutchings. All four of the new owners have deep roots in the motorcycle industry and a proven history of success. We are certain that they, along with our existing team of incredibly talented employees, will carry on the Helmet House legacy. As for us, we will retain ownership in the company and will be available as needed to help the new management team with Helmet House’s long-range strategy from our emeritus roles.

From our humble beginnings, Helmet House has grown to become a remarkable mainstay in the motorcycle industry; reliably supplying motorcycle dealers with top brands, including Shoei, HJC, Tourmaster, Cortech and Sena. While adhering to our traditional business values, we have always empowered dealers and customers by adopting flexible and dealer-friendly practices. We are proactively pursuing this ownership and leadership transition to ensure that Helmet House continues its customer-first philosophy and heritage that has made the company and its partners so successful in the past.

Dave Bertram will join Helmet House as Chairman and CEO. Dave is a seasoned executive in the motorcycle industry. He founded the retail store chain Cycle Gear, and he and his team built the company into the largest retail chain of apparel, parts, and accessories in the world. His vast experience in the motorcycle industry, including aftermarket brand building and innovative retail, puts him in a unique position to drive sales and profit for our dealer partners and grow Helmet House into the future.

Joining Dave as partners in executive leadership roles are: Scott Link, Don Becklin and Randy Hutchings.

A well-known and respected name in the motorcycle industry, Scott Link takes the position of COO to lead efforts in sales, marketing and merchandising. Link led Alpinestars as Director of Sales-North America for 20+ years. Under Scott’s leadership, Alpinestars grew into the largest aspirational motorsports footwear, apparel and protection brand in the United States. His expertise will position Helmet House as a strong player in our ever-changing industry.

As Chief Digital Officer, Don Becklin’s experience in the world of digital e-commerce delivers a new level of technical competency to the Helmet House organization. As the founder of Motorcycle Superstore and Motorcycle USA– two of the original e-commerce and content websites in the industry— Becklin offers the expertise needed to upgrade Helmet House’s websites and dealer portal and provide digital integration throughout the company. With nearly two decades of experience as a tech leader, directing teams of webmasters, designers and software developers, Becklin’s familiarity with driving Internet channel sales will translate to providing digital tools that serve the needs of dealers in the 21st century.

Randy Hutchings has been with Helmet House for 15 years and stays on as the company’s CFO. His incredible knowledge of the internal workings of the company and the needs of dealers and suppliers is critical to the success of the new ownership and management team. His experience and input will allow Helmet House maintain its financially strong position, as the company addresses the future needs of our dealers.

With this transition, Helmet House is even more committed to upholding the mission statement that has been our guiding light for the past fifty years, and will be for the next fifty years: “Through excellence and integrity, we at Helmet House are dedicated to improving our business by improving the business of our dealers.”  We’re confident that this new leadership team will work incredibly hard every single day to continue to earn your business and demonstrate the value of having Helmet House as a true business partner.

We value the wonderful friendships and partnerships we have established over the years and look forward to this next chapter.
