Recharged FIN GPS Device Helps Atlanta Police Recover Stolen Kawasaki Motorcycle

The thieves' use of the motorcycle recharged the FIN unit, and the dealer-installed GPS fed live pings that helped police retrieve the bike.

On June 5, 2026, a customer’s 2026 Kawasaki motorcycle was stolen from a gated high-rise residence in Atlanta, Georgia. The motorcycle had been secured in the bed of the owner’s truck. According to the customer, who immediately notified the Find It Now (FIN) Theft & Recovery Team, suspects first attempted to steal the truck. When those efforts failed, they removed the Kawasaki from the truck bed and fled. Despite the theft, the motorcycle remained within a relatively short distance of its original location.

Because the motorcycle had been stored for several months before the incident, the FIN backup battery was fully depleted at the time of the theft. On June 7, 2026, after the thieves operated the motorcycle, the unit recharged and reestablished communication with the FIN network.

As soon as the device reconnected and began transmitting location data, the FIN Theft & Recovery Team acted. Using the FIN GPS Security Device, which combines satellite and cellular technology, the team monitored the motorcycle’s movements. Working with the customer, they relayed real-time location information to the Atlanta Police Department, leading to the recovery of the Kawasaki just days after it was stolen.

This recovery highlights the role of FIN’s technology and the importance of having a theft recovery solution in place. Even when thieves believe they have avoided detection, FIN continues working behind the scenes to help reunite owners with their vehicles. FIN extended its appreciation to the Atlanta Police Department for its professionalism, rapid response and assistance throughout the recovery effort. FIN also thanked Cycle City of Newnan for installation of the FIN GPS Security Device, helping ensure this successful outcome.
