Dominion Powersports Solutions’ New DX1 Business Platform is Result of Rising Mobile Use

Dominion Powersports Solutions' DX1 Business Platform is the industry's only end-to-end business system featuring new web technology
aimed at the growing population of mobile shoppers.

Mobile activity among powersports consumers is increasing at an enormous clip, a fact that is shaping the development of the industry’s new groundbreaking business platform, Dominion Powersports Solutions’ DX1.

The platform connects a dealership’s critical sales, marketing and operational functions and will feature a mobile-oriented technology yet to be made available to the powersports industry at large.

"Ensuring our dealership partners are at the leading edge of mobile technology has always been our priority," said Jeff Littlejohn, president of Dominion Powersports Solutions. "It started with PowerSports Network (PSN) being the first website provider to offer a companion mobile site free to every dealer customer. We are continuing our commitment to mobile with heightened marketing opportunities on CycleTrader.com and responsive technology as the cornerstone of DX1.”

Responsive technology is an emerging web design that Google recommends for websites. The technology fluidly adjusts a website to the size of a device, making the site easy to navigate on a mobile phone or tablet device. For the consumer, this means no troublesome shrinking or stretching to quickly view and access items – one of the reasons Google developers are recommending the technology. It is also why major brands like GE, Microsoft and Nokia are adopting responsive design.

Because of the escalation of smartphone and tablet use among powersports shoppers, Dominion Powersports Solutions has made mobile technology advancements key elements of the DX1. Mobile and tablet devices now make up more than 40 percent of the millions of annual page views on CycleTrader.com. This mobile percentage has skyrocketed over the past two years, with a 2011 CycleTrader.com study showing mobile and tablet usage closer to just 10 percent.

The responsive technology that will make mobile shopping easier for the consumer will also make business administration simpler for the dealer. The DX1’s LaunchPad – the starting point for dealer personnel operating the platform – will feature new technology that will allow the same ease of use whether a dealer is working on a desktop computer at the dealership or working from a tablet or mobile phone on the road.
