Engine

A liquid-cooled, 1,498 cc 4-stroke in-line-four engine powers the 2026 Jet Ski STX 160 and Jet Ski ST 160. Kawasaki bases the engine on its Ninja supersport platform. The engine produces 160 horespower at 7,500 rpm. It delivers responsive, smooth and family-friendly power. It maintains excellent fuel efficiency. Its DOHC, 16-valve, fuel-injected design includes corrosion-resistant valves. The design features tapered piston pins and electroplated aluminum cylinders. These provide lightweight durability and optimal heat dissipation. A single 60-millimeter throttle body works with high-flow fuel injectors. Digital transistor ignition provides precise power delivery. A 20.6-gallon fuel tank extends the range for long rides. Jet Ski STX 160 models also feature a silent engine-flushing system. Kawasaki locates it under the rear seat for noiseless maintenance. Riders don’t need to remove the front seat.

New to 2026, the Jet Ski STX 160 models add an electric trim-control system. It offers seven positions. Riders can adjust the hull angle for rough or calm water conditions. Electronic cruise control now includes up/down speed adjustment on both models. A one-touch 5 miles per hour mode makes navigating “no wake” zones effortless. Riders can also choose from full, middle or low power modes. Smart learning operation helps riders learn handling at a relaxed pace.

The propulsion system features a high-speed jet pump. It includes a 155-millimeter three-blade stainless-steel impeller. A robust drive shaft with sealed bearings provides durability. A cast aluminum steering nozzle ensures efficient thrust transmission. Kawasaki adds KSRD to the Jet Ski STX 160 models. It allows one-handed thrust control when reversing. A neutral mode holds the watercraft in place. Reverse assist enables fine engine rpm adjustments. Riders can easily back out of a trailer or tight dock spaces.

The Jet Ski STX 160 models include additional rider-assist features. The Kawasaki smart steering system helps maintain engine speed during turns. It provides smoother, more intuitive handling. These innovations make the Jet Ski STX 160 models powerful, precise and versatile. A range of new technologies enhances control and comfort on the water.

Hull

The 2026 Jet Ski STX 160 models feature the tried-and-true STX hull. This lightweight design offers nimble handling. A deep forward section and strakes reduce wave shock. The hull delivers agile handling and precise control. Its high-performance keel line reduces friction. It enhances maneuverability. The lightweight yet strong fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) construction improves durability. Integrated flotation cells provide added buoyancy. The full-circumference three-piece bumper protects the hull from impacts. Riders also benefit from a tight turning radius. This gives excellent low-speed control.

The STX hull features a deep forward section for reduced wave shock. Its superior design delivers agile handling characteristics for sports riding. The high-performance keel line reduces friction while enhancing maneuverability and rider control. Hull material is light yet strong FRP. Integrated flotation cells assist with buoyancy. A sturdy, full-circumference three-piece bumper design protects the hull. Tight turning radius provides excellent low-speed control. On the Jet Ski STX 160 models, the Triple KSD reduces water splash. This lateral strip on the forward section of the hull dramatically reduces water splash. It works especially well at speed and in rough water. Injection-molded sponsons give sharp, clean turning performance. They provide a very solid feel when banking. Kawasaki installs side bumper fins at the bottom of the bumper. The bumper runs around the outside of the deck. The fins act to improve riding stability. They help to balance the watercraft.

Deck

The new Jet Ski STX 160 Series introduces a “dynamic and futuristic” design. It builds on the previous model’s compact and agile styling. The refreshed front end features a higher nose and sleeker lines. Larger, smooth deck cover surfaces draw inspiration from the Jet Ski Ultra 310 and 160 Series. This gives the Jet Ski STX 160 models a sharp, sporty and modern appearance. New to the Jet Ski STX 160LX, accent lights and distinctive deck mat designs enhance its cutting-edge look. An extended rear deck features a multi-mount system. A three-piece modular bumper allows unique color and design variations for each model. Each Jet Ski STX 160 model has its own styling cues and mirror treatments. These appeal to a wide range of riders. Kawasaki offers the Jet Ski STX 160X in Metallic Surf Blue/Crystal White. The Jet Ski STX 160LX comes in Crystal White/Metallic Phantom Silver.

Display

The Jet Ski STX 160 models feature new instrument and tech upgrades. A large 7-inch full-color TFT display offers multiple display modes. It includes Bluetooth connectivity, infotainment functions, and waypoint navigation. The LX model supports a rearview camera. Riders can now adjust screen brightness automatically or manually. They can view at-a-glance indicators for speed, fuel, trim and drive mode. Notifications from connected smartphones appear on screen. The Jet Ski STX 160LX adds the JETSOUND two-speaker integrated audio system feature. It includes Bluetooth and a jog-dial controller. Splash-protecting speaker placement provides convenience and style.

Ergonomics

Kawasaki improves riding comfort and ergonomics with features new to the 2026 Jet Ski STX 160 models. Higher front seats on the Jet Ski STX 160X and LX provide more knee and elbow room. Non-slip deck mats enhance safety. Enhanced hip support increases comfort. Kawasaki increases splash protection with a front bumper that sits 100 millimeters higher. It extends 115 millimeters further forward. This reduces water entry into the foot wells.

Storage and Convenience

Storage and utility upgrades on the Jet Ski STX 160X include a new central waterproof compartment. Additional bottle storage adds convenience. A 2.6-liter rear pocket provides extra space. An extended rear deck on the LX model measures 110 millimeters longer than the standard Jet Ski STX 160 model. New to the 2026 Jet Ski STX 160, the rear deck accommodates multi-mount bars and rails for accessories. Built-in cleats assist with docking. A retractable re-boarding step adds convenience. These enhancements make the Jet Ski STX 160 models more stylish, functional and versatile. They serve a wide variety of recreational and sporty riding experiences.

It delivers adrenaline-pumping rides for open-water cruising or tight turns. It offers a more approachable price.
