High Performance ATV Extended Front Fork Extender Tool

Brian Lockhart of High Performance ATV in Springfield, Mo., put this month’s tool through its pages.

The engine gurus over at JIMS have introduced their ‘09 collection of shop tools, so we invited Brian Lockhart and his team at High Performance ATV in Springfield, Mo., to take the new Extended Front Fork Extender Tool for a test drive, so to speak. Don’t let the name of the shop fool you—the guys get bikes into their service bays, too, and they found this tool a handy addition to their repertoire. “The Fork spring tool is very well built and a must if you do a few fork jobs a week,” Lockhart says. The Fork Extender is designed as an upgrade to work with JIMS Fork Compressor Tool, and allows you to service any length fork tube assembly from 2-inches-under-size to 16-inches-over-size. The tool will work on most common style fork assemblies, from stock, to custom, to motocross, to racer and metric motorcycles; however, it’s not designed to work on inverted fork models. This fork tool will safely compress the fork spring and allow you to assemble or disassemble the fork tube and lower leg assembly without fear of the fork spring or filler cap flying off, which could hurt you and damage the bike. It also works on cartridge style shocks for servicing or rebuilding.
