Brembo unveiled an all-new brake system for utility terrain vehicles (UTV) and side-by-sides at the SEMA show in booth 22755 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Nov. 1-4.
The new Brembo UTV brake system is the first of its kind bespoke performance brake kit for the UTV market. Utilizing over 60 years of brake design and manufacturing of brake components for everything from Formula 1 cars to super cars to brakes that have won the Baja 1000, they are engineered using Brembo’s load optimization software assuring a stiff robust design for the rigors of off-road driving and racing.
The Brembo UTV kit greatly increases braking performance over the factory brake system, providing driver confidence and easy serviceability. The Brembo UTV Kit is offered in two caliper choices both in aluminum, one machined from billet and one cast.
The Brembo-designed four-piston aluminum brake caliper grips onto cross-drilled steel brake discs. The machined from billet versions are lightweight, just 1.55 kilograms (may differ between models) to provide excellent stopping power to all four corners.
The two-piece aluminum cast caliper is a less expensive version that still offers a great benefit between performance and price and allows it to be used by a wider audience of enthusiasts. Both versions can provide the same pad shape, offered in two different compounds.
Brembo was able to combine its experience as a total solution provider and market leader for road car brakes with its extensive supercar and motorsports history to supply the perfect mix of performance stopping power for this fun and competitive recreational segment.
The Brembo UTV system is engineered specifically for these applications, considering all of the key measurements to produce the best possible braking solution. Combine the great looking aluminum calipers with Brembo’s discs and low-met pads, and the UTV system will provide impressive performance while cruising back trails or the rigors of the Baja 1000 or the Dakar Rally.
The X-raid Yamaha Racing Rally Team ran Brembo billet UTV calipers in the 2021 Dakar Rally, where it debuted the all-new Yamaha YXZ1000R prototype. The all-female duo of Camelia Liparoti and Annett Fischer claimed a sensational second place in the T3.1 class for lightweight prototypes, while the Swedish crew of Mattias Ekström and Emil Bergkvist impressed with strong stage results.
The aluminum fixed calipers, together with Brembo’s low-met brake pads, provide reduced unsprung weight on all four corners while delivering quiet and confident brake pedal feel to the driver.
