The 8th Annual The Quail Motorcycle Gathering, presented by TUDOR, is shaping up to be the biggest event yet. With the support of sponsors and a large field of motorcycle and bicycle entries, the May 14, 2016 event is expected to draw record numbers to Quail Lodge & Golf Club.

This year more than 30 sponsors will help make The Quail Motorcycle Gathering a must-attend event. One highlight is Honda’s “History of Great Adventures,” which will celebrate the company’s rich history of motorcycle exploration. Additionally, several companies have signed on to sponsor competitive classes. Kawasaki is sponsoring the Japanese Class, Bonhams the Antique Class, Bike EXIF the Custom/Modified Class, and Hollister Powersports the Pre-1916 Motorcycles Class. Spectators can look forward to visiting with sponsors in their booths to learn more about their products and services.

“We are so thankful to all of our sponsors that are helping to make The Quail Motorcycle Gathering a success,” said Quail Director of Motorsports, Gordon McCall. “The companies that participate in this event are more than just supporters, they are an integral part of the event itself. We are fortunate to have forged such strong partnerships with these extraordinary companies. This show wouldn’t exist without their support.”

A new motorcycle award at The Quail this year will be the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Heritage Award. This award recognizes a motorcycle that best represents the contributions that AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famers have made to the growth of motorcycling in America. The selection will be made by a committee of attending Hall of Famers.

In addition, the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame will have on display a bike from its own collection, Hall of Famer Wayne Rainey’s 1983 AMA Superbike Championship-winning Kawasaki GPz750. The GPz is one of the most significant motorcycles in AMA Superbike Championship history, representing not just the ascendance of one of America’s greatest racers of all time, but a milestone achievement for what was thought to be a technologically inferior motorcycle at the time.

During a special ceremony at The Quail, the AMA will present Craig Vetter with the prestigious AMA Dud Perkins Lifetime Achievement Award. The award acknowledges the highest level of service to the AMA in any area of activity, and its recipients are individuals whose contributions are nationally recognized.

The silent auction to benefit the Monterey Youth Museum includes a variety of exciting items. Up for bid are are accommodation packages from Quail Lodge & Golf Club, The Peninsula Chicago and The Peninsula New York. A Land Rover off-road experience and a weekend motorcycle rental from MotoQuest are also among the items. For the true motorsports fanatics, tickets to the sold-out The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering will be offered as well.

With live entertainment, lifestyle vendors, a signature beverage pavilion, and a dedicated kids area, The Quail Motorcycle Gathering is a true celebration of motorcycling. Entry includes a southwestern gourmet barbecue lunch, parking, and gear valet service for those riding a motorcycle to the event.

Tickets are on sale now at www.quaillodgetickets.com and will also be available at the gate on the day of the event.
