The AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country Series presented by Maxxis, an AMA National Championship Series, will kick off competition for the 2016 season on March 5-6 in Palatka, Fla. Round 1, The Moose Racing Wild Boar GNCC, will take place at the Rodman Plantation.

“Racer Productions has continued to produce quality events since the 1970s and once again brings 13 action-packed rounds to AMA racers,” said AMA Off-Road Manager Chuck Weir. “In 2015, the series averaged 1,449 riders at each race with the round at Unadilla attracting 2,207 entries — clear evidence that the series has earned the respect and loyalty of competitors of all ranks, from factory-level racers to weekend warriors.”

Saturday, March 5, features a one-hour youth ATV race at 8 a.m., the single-seat UTVs race at 9 a.m., and the two-hour amateur ATV and WXC classes race at 10 a.m. This round will offer an hour of practice for youth bike racers at noon. At 1 p.m., the pro ATV race commences, in addition to bike practice on a separate track. UTV racing rounds out the day at 4 p.m.

On Sunday, March 6, the hour-and-half youth bike race kicks off at 8 a.m. The amateur bike race that includes the WXC class follows at 10 a.m. and continues for two hours. The pro bike race is scheduled for 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The GNCC series averaged 5,300 spectators at races in 2015, with the Ironman round attracting 11,000. Additionally, the series had more than 2.11 million viewers on the NBCSN shows and 300,000 viewers of GNCCLive on RacerTV.com.

“After a record-breaking 2015 season, we are excited for the coming season to start next weekend,” said GNCC Director Tim Cotter. “The Racer Productions team has been working throughout the off-season to continue the momentum from last year’s series. With two new venues on the schedule and many of the iconic venues, 2016 is shaping up to be the best year ever.”

Adult (12 and older) gate admission is $20 for the full weekend and $10 for children ages 6 to 11. Ages 5 and younger are free. All admission includes pro pit access. The amateur racer entry fee is $40, and riders can sign up at the track.

Tune into RacerTV.com at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 5, to see live coverage of the Pro ATV race and at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 6, for live coverage of the pro bike race. For more information about live GNCC coverage, visit www.racertv.com.
