The Scandinavian manufacturer of high-performance, quality brake pads shows commitment to the American V-twin market by going solo under the SBS name and launching brake pads in 3 different compounds for the all-new Harley Davidson Street family.

SBS Friction is Europe’s leading manufacturer of motorcycle brake pads and known for the true performance and quality of its products. This is recognized by OEM and brake system manufacturers around the world and working with these industry giants, makes it possible for SBS to launch aftermarket OE replacement and upgrade solutions almost simultaneously with the actual bike launches.

The product quality also made SBS famous in the US V-twin industry; SBS supplied Drag Specialties with brake pads under the brand name “Drag Specialties by SBS” for years. This full line of V-twin specific brake pads received a brand change for 2014 and is now promoted as “SBS Brakes for American Motorcycles.”

The company’s Sales Manager for North America, Johan Rauff Kristensen says: “We are proud to supply riders on any bike with the ultimate stopping power and this is our main reason for changing our approach to the V-twin riders. SBS recognizes that these big bikes need different brakes than e.g. a dirt bike or a fast track bike, so we decided to develop three different choices of brake pads. These are individually targeted at different bike types and ages – all V-twin – and different riding styles. Since we are the only company in the industry to offer this choice, we decided that it was time for people to know the company behind – that’s why we’re now branding us as SBS Brakes.”

Dealers and mechanics will benefit from having the possibility of generating profit on upgrading brake pads, even on new bikes. This will increase overall earnings thanks to great dealer margins, the company explains.

“The new Harley Davidson Street 500 and 750 is a great example. It is originally equipped with organic ceramic brake pads, so we recommend replacing with our ceramic H.HF compound. Should a rider want to upgrade the stopping power, then it’s as simple as replacing the OE pads with our H.CT Carbon Tec upgrade pads. And last but not least we offer a sinter metallic choice of front H.HS and rear H.LS pads. These are the only aftermarket sinter metal pads with different friction levels front and rear – and therefore the only aftermarket brake pads offering the same brake balance as the factory fitted ones; something that’s essential on modern bikes with ABS systems.”

This means that riders have the chance to upgrade their brakes, with the benefit of a better riding experience and higher safety level, for the small cost of a set of brake pads – while dealers benefit from an extra item to use for upselling and being able to meet their customer’s desire for tailoring the bike to their individual type of riding.

SBS is available throughout the US and Canada from dealers doing business with leading distributors.
