Punxsutawney Phil, the groundhog who did not see his shadow this year, declared that we would have an early spring in 2019. If we are taking that prediction to heart, it is time to dust off those summer display racks and start preparing for a new season of enthusiastic customers.
Consumables
For those customers who will be taking the covers off their summer machines, make sure you are stocked with plenty of cleaning products, waxes and detailing brushes. Not only will they need to make sure their PWC looks the part, but it needs to be fueled up to play the part. Oil, spark plugs and filters are all essentials to keep in your dealership before the seasons change.
Accessories
Accessories are probably the most fun things to shop for, and let your customers know that. Sure, an OEM looks great before it is put in the water, but customers will want to personalize their PWC to fit their lifestyle. Whether it be fishing equipment, anchors, traction mats or seat covers, get to know your customers’ interests to lead them to the products that will best suit their ride.
Apparel
Wetsuits, life jackets and gloves are all notable items to keep stocked through the sunny season. Anticipate customers coming back to your dealership after their end-of-season PWC purchase in 2018 and now they’re ready to get their feet wet for the first time. Fit them into a life jacket and make sure they’re comfortable wearing gloves while holding the throttle. Don’t forget about eye protection; they may have their sunscreen ready but that won’t prevent dangerous UV rays from damaging their eyes or water splashing and interrupting their vision.
Your expertise on necessary consumables, accessories and apparel can help a return customer become a lifelong customer by fully preparing them for the summer season.
