Pirelli has announced that it has reached a multi-year agreement to become the official motorcycle tire of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, beginning May 21 in Sacramento, California, at the GoPro Hangtown Motocross Classic. The Italian manufacturer boasts an incredible 64 Motocross Grand-Prix World Championships and the recent partnership confirms Pirelli’s commitment to off-road racing worldwide. Racers across the paddock will have the opportunity to line up with high-performance tires, such as the all-new SCORPION MX32 PRO.
“It’s an exciting day for Lucas Oil Pro Motocross to have reached a multi-year partnership with Pirelli,” said Davey Coombs, President of MX Sports Pro Racing. “The brand has reached a high level of success in many forms of racing across the world and having them as an integral part of the championship is only going to elevate our sport to the next level.”
Pirelli recently debuted its all-new motocross tire, the MX32 PRO, adding to the already highly successful SCORPION MX lineup. The highly versatile tire is designed to perform across a variety of conditions and used for a wide-range of skillsets. As an official sponsor in the 2016 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, Pirelli’s newest tire is no stranger to grabbing the holeshot or standing on the podium.
“On behalf of Pirelli, we’re pleased to announce that we will be the official motorcycle tire of Lucas Oil Pro Motocross,” said Chet Plewacki, Pirelli Marketing Director, Moto, NAFTA Region. “As a company Pirelli is driven to do whatever it takes to raise the bar in North America and the MX32 and new MX32 PRO show we are in this long-term.”
Last summer’s Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship served as a critical role for Pirelli-supported teams such as Autotrader/Monster Energy/Yamaha and BTO Sports/WPS/KTM to develop the MX32 PRO in race conditions. Off-road enthusiasts benefit from Pirelli’s “we race what we sell, we sell what we race” mindset as the public can purchase the exact tires used by the sports biggest stars like Justin Barcia, Weston Peick, Davi Millsaps, Justin Brayton, and Andrew Short.
