AFIP Announces Increase in Certification Course Wholesale Price

The Association of Finance & Insurance Professionals (AFIP) has announced that the wholesale price of its Basic, Senior and Master certification courses will increase to $695, plus shipping and handling, beginning February 2, 2014.

ATV Fatalities On the Rise Due to Public Road Riding

A study conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) states that about 1,700 ATV riders died in crashes on U.S. public roads from 2007 to 2011. The study indicates that a vast majority of riders killed in crashes are 16 or older and male, impaired by alcohol, and not wearing helmets.

AMA Opposes Federal Task Force’s Recommendation for Mandatory Helmet Laws

The American Motorcyclist Association reports that a federal task force is poised to recommend that all states have mandatory helmet laws for all motorcyclists, which the task force says would reduce injuries and deaths as well as result in economic benefits. In its position on helmet use, the AMA noted that mandatory helmet laws do nothing to prevent crashes.

Intrust Bank Files for Foreclosure on Remaining Big Dog Motorcycles Entities

In the suit, Intrust Bank seeks to recover $20 million on six different loans. Those loans are secured by the Big Dog property, as well as a stream of monthly distributions from his investment company and his life insurance policies. These notes are in default because the Big Dog property is the subject of foreclosure, the lawsuit claims.
