EnerSys, the manufacturer of ODYSSEY batteries, has announced that action sports legend Brian Deegan and daughter Hailie Deegan both will drive an ODYSSEY battery-sponsored Polaris RZR UTV, in their respective classes, during the 50th anniversary of HayDays Grass Drags.
Taking place Sept. 10-11 in North Branch, Minnesota, HayDays is famous for its world-record setting grass drag races, as well as the many competitions it hosts during the two-day expo. For the second consecutive year, Terracross will hold race events on the first expo day for all of their classes. This year, 15-year-old Hailie Deegan will pilot the ODYSSEY battery Terracross Polaris RZR in the Terracross Women’s class. In addition, Hailie’s father, Brian Deegan, will drive the ODYSSEY battery Terracross Polaris RZR in the Terracross Turbo class.
“Having the opportunity to represent EnerSys by driving the ODYSSEY battery Polaris RZR in a Terracross event is both exciting and a privilege,” said Hailie. “The competition in Terracross is intense and I’m really looking forward to the challenge.”
Brian added, “I’m looking forward to the opportunity to race at the same event as my daughter, Hailie, as well as carry the ODYSSEY battery logo on my race truck.”
“Hailie has proven herself to be a real force behind the wheel, regardless of what she is driving,” said Maria Orlando-Krick, marketing content and sponsorship manager at EnerSys. “We are proud of her accomplishments and are happy to have her drive the ODYSSEY battery Polaris RZR. Furthermore, it’s a unique opportunity to have her father, Brian, also pilot an ODYSSEY battery Polaris RZR at the event. We know every time he hits the track, it’s another opportunity to push ODYSSEY batteries to extreme limits in demanding racing conditions. Both Brian and Hailie are great ambassadors for EnerSys and the ODYSSEY battery brand on and off the track.”
Currently, Hailie competes in the 2016 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) in the Modified Kart class. She also is part of the NASCAR Drive for Diversity program, which raced in the Bojangles Summer Shootout Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Brian competes in the 2016 LOORRS in the Pro 2 class as well as the 2016 Red Bull Global Rallycross series with Ganassi Racing.
