The Ride for Life motorcycle ride is to raise awareness of choking hazards and choking rescue, as well as a Celebration of Life, as the community joins with the Mattocks family and the Confer/Novosel families in honor of their young children that passed away from choking. LifeVac is sponsoring the event and will donate their life saving choking device to preschools, police and fire departments along the route. The ride will conclude with a community event in Meadville that will include CPR classes for parents. Entertainment includes a DJ, a magic show, balloon animals, a petting zoo and raffles prizes at this family friendly event.
On October 9th, 2021, Riders will meet at the Legion Riders in Mercer, PA at 10 A.M. before making stops at Fire and Police departments and preschools to deliver LifeVac devices. The event will conclude at 2-5 P.M. with a community event at The Voodoo Brewery Compound in Meadville, PA.
Event sponsor LifeVac is a patented, FDA-registered lifesaving device designed to offer the simplest, safest method of aspirating a choking child or adult. Founder and CEO Arthur Lih created the apparatus in 2011 to increase the chances of survival rates in a choking emergency and has successfully saved 177 lives and counting.
Together with their families and the community, LifeVac is honoring the lives of Aizeya Mattocks and Kolson Confer. Aizeya was a beautiful 8-year-old who choked to death in school in 2012. She would have graduated high school in June 2021. Kolson was a healthy 22-month-old boy who choked to death eating breakfast with his dad.
