Several key land use initiatives willbenefit from $52,100 donated to the Right Rider Access Fund (RRAF), following the first-ever Give to Ride Breakfast and Auction. Generous donations that included gear, parts, memorabilia, riding experiences and even a motorcycle, from a number of MIC members, generated this valuable funding for the RRAF, whose charitable mission is to promote the safe and responsible use of off-highway vehicles and to preserve their access to appropriate lands.
A dozen racing stars also lent their support to the RRAF by appearing at the breakfast, held in conjunction with the 2012 Dealer Expo at the Indianapolis Convention Center. Motocross and off-road legends Malcolm Smith, Fred Hoess, Mark Blackwell, Scot Harden, Jonah Street, Andy Jefferson and Chuck Sun were there to answer questions and sign autographs.
The world of ATV racing was well represented by star riders Bill Ballance and Mike Penland. Dirt track icon Chris Carr not only appeared but also donated a two-day American Supercamp. Road racers Kevin Schwantz and Don Emde were special guests, too.
“Everyone on the Right Rider Board is so grateful to all the companies and individuals who attended and donated items to the Give to Ride Auction,” said RRAF president Tim Buche. “We appreciate the generosity of everyone who participated, and while fundraising was certainly an important aspect of this morning’s event, it was not the primary objective. Our true goal was to rally the motorcycling community for a fun morning together and to challenge everyone to give to ride.”
