Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Cameron McAdoo Takes the Triple Crown Win

McAdoo earned second career supercross win.McAd

Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Cameron McAdoo found consistency during the always challenging Triple Crown format to earn his second career win in front of the packed crowd inside AT&T Stadium. His 2-3-1 main event finishes showcased his speed, winning the final race of the night; he now sits tied for the points lead after two rounds. Teammate Austin Forkner won the opening race of the night but was taken out in the final main event. His 1-4-19 finishes were still good enough for seventh overall.

With only one race in the books this season, the riders were faced with a new format and a lot of racing at Round 2. McAdoo came off a great podium finish and felt confident that he would put in three solid races. In the first main event, he was in the top five and made his way to second where he was trying to pass for the lead, but Forkner got by in the process. He went on to finish second.

McAdoo put in another top-five start in the second main event and was pushing hard to get by his teammate. He made it stick just before the halfway mark, eventually finishing third to enter the final race in good position. When the gate dropped for the final race, McAdoo was near the front and was able to move into first on the opening lap. He held onto the lead the entire race and was crowned the overall winner.

“It was a crazy night of racing and we all know these triple crowns are gnarly,” said McAdoo. “Three riders going into the final race tied for the win made it an intense race. I picked the same gate each time and had good starts, which helps when it comes to these events. The track was tough, but I enjoyed the feeling on the bike. Everything felt great, and I’m looking forward to going back to where I got my first win next week in Daytona.”

The triple crown races are often filled with mixed emotions, as there is a good opportunity to still do well overall even with a bad race, but more time on the track opens the door for racing incidents. The latter was the fate of Forkner after starting the night with a great first main event, winning the opening race of the night. His second main event was just as solid in fourth, leaving him in contention for the overall win.

As the final race began, Forkner had to avoid a downed rider and started outside the top-five. He quickly made his way up to third on the sixth lap and was battling for the overall when a rider collided with him over the finish line jump, putting him on the ground and unable to continue. With his solid results from the first two races, Forkner was still credited for seventh overall, but he will have to consult with his doctors to see if he will be able to return to racing next week.
