Ingersoll Rand has received a 2011 SEMA Editor’s Choice Award from Popular Mechanics for its W7150 High-Torque Cordless Impactool.

Popular Mechanics reviewed more than 1,500 new products at the 2011 SEMA Show held in November to determine the most innovative and useful tools for the automotive enthusiast. The Ingersoll Rand W7150 1/2˝ cordless Impactool was awarded as one of the top 15 products, the only power tool to be recognized in the top 15.

“Winning the Popular Mechanics 2011 SEMA Editor’s Choice Award is a distinct honor and serves as recognition of the advancements Ingersoll Rand has made in cordless technology,” said Nate Schmid, marketing manager for vehicle services with Ingersoll Rand. “With the launch of the W7150 coming in January, technicians will quickly see why this tool was one of the best new products at the SEMA 2011 convention.”

The W7150 features a best-in-class power-to-weight ratio, offering an impressive 780 ft-lb of reverse torque, and 1,100 ft-lb of torque. It has a patent-pending metal-reinforced housing and an all-metal drivetrain and hammer mechanism. The tool is powered by the IR’s IQV20 Series lithium-ion battery platform.
