Ducati is planning to unveil several new machines between now and the end of the year with the all-new Desert X adventure bike headlining the company’s 2022 lineup.
Another five motorcycles will be unveiled in intervals up until the December 9 reveal of the anticipated Desert X. The Desert X first appeared as a concept model in 2019, but it seems a lot has changed since then.
The latest teaser images from Ducati are of the bike traversing through sand dunes shows that it keeps the concept bike’s twin circular headlights, which give it a classic Dakar style. However, things in the engine department have changed considerably.
The air-cooled Scrambler 800 motor has been replaced with Ducati’s 937cc water-cooled Testastretta engine, which has been used in the Supersport 950, Monster, Hypermotard 950 and Multistrada 950. If those bikes are any indication, this engine should make 110 bhp and 70-lb.-ft. of torque.
The details on the frame for the Desert X are TBD, but Ducati plans to use a 21″ front wheel and an 18″ rear.
