Among the hundreds of vehicles filling the show floor at AIMExpo, the DTV Shredder emerged as arguably the most unique.
Thanks to a relationship between the manufacturer, Canada-based BPG Werks, and exhibitor AL3RT GPS, the Shredder was able to make its first formal appearance on U.S. soil, just a few weeks ahead of the first wave of units that will hit select American dealerships.
Inspired by a passion for action sports, the DTV Shredder, which stands for Dual Tracked Vehicle, is the first true personal crossover vehicle. It’s a combination of a tank, skateboard, and motocross bike that can be used year-round in virtually any condition. BPG Werks claims that with the Shredder the entire outdoors becomes your personal playground, and given its dynamic capabilities that claim carries some weight.
Two aggressive tank treads, a skateboard pivoting deck, and a 196cc, 14 horsepower 4-stroke engine help propel the Shredder through sand, snow, trails, and even mountainsides at speeds up to 25 miles an hour. As a result, the Shredder has become a useful tool for farmers and even some search and rescue efforts, in addition to adrenaline junkies.
The DTV Shredder has been sold to international consumers since 2013, but has not been available for retail in the U.S. until now, with units officially showing up in dealerships in October. Pricing options have not been formally announced.
