Doin’ the ‘Stray Cat Strut’ to Orlando

ion of the show. We are proud to be part of AIMExpo once again, as we believe it is the single most important event of the year for dealers in terms of the educational and networking opportunities. Many in the industry were surprised and encouraged by the turnout last year, and this year promises to deliver even more of a good thing.

More dealers have signed up to attend and more exhibitors will be on hand to lend their knowledge and show off their latest products. More OEMs will be there, too, which makes for a well-rounded event and a great way to get amped about the upcoming year.

You’ve got Yamaha, KYMCO, Massimo, EBR Motorcycles, Suzuki, Zero Motorcycles, Gibbs and Kawasaki all debuting 2015 lineups and some offering demo rides in the AIME Outdoors! exhibition area.

The MPN team will hit the ground running in Orlando as we are the official publishers of the Show Daily, Show Directory and Souvenir Program. The first two days will be at a frantic pace for us since we will be trying to be all places at once to cover events and happenings around the show floor and outdoor activities for live coverage in the AIMExpo Show Daily.

In this issue, you’ll find a plethora of AIMExpo information to help you prepare. We have an exclusive interview with the AIMExpo “Champion” and 1993 500cc GP World Champion Kevin Schwantz on page 36. We are also pleased to be the media partner with the Ace Cafe and Vroom Network, among other sponsors, for the first Ace Cafe concert Saturday evening (10/18) in the convention center hall featuring
Lee Rocker of the Stray Cats.

See you in Orlando!

Breaking down the art and science of a well-designed, customer-focused, profit-friendly parts package.

Good parts managers are a rare breed. We are among the few who enjoy flipping through paper catalogs and covering them with notes. We love seeing how other companies merchandise shelves. We are always absorbing different sales techniques and wondering if we could use them too.

In that vein, when it comes to continuing to boost our numbers post-COVID, I have a few strategies for you to try. It might sound odd, but not everyone can remember that most winches need a winch mount. Or that certain winches require a hidden harness stored at the bottom of a book (hello, Can-Am). Or that Honda has split its winch harness between the winch and the mount. If you don't want service techs to hate you, you need to order both part numbers or else face their wrath.
