CAKE Announces Partnership with Gates

CAKE’s next model, the Ösa, to be unveiled on Nov. 5, will feature the Gates carbon fiber belt drive system as standard. The Kalk OR and Kalk& will expand to include an add-on option of a Gates carbon fiber belt drive system for customers.

CAKE, the Swedish manufacturer of lightweight electric off-road performance motorcycles, announced a new partnership with Gates, maker of advanced belt drive technologies. CAKE’s next model, the Ösa, to be unveiled on Nov. 5, will feature the Gates carbon fiber belt drive system as standard. The Kalk OR and Kalk& will expand to include an add-on option of a Gates carbon fiber belt drive system for customers.

“We feel our belt drive systems are ideal for both consumers and manufacturers across many performance metrics including noise, the total cost of ownership, durability, and maintenance,” said Joe Menzel, general manager of Gates Global Mobility Business.

The heart of each of CAKE’s motorbike models lies with the great outdoors. The Kalk OR is made exclusively for off-road exploration, and the Kalk& offers the ability to commute to work during the week and explore the backcountry on the weekends. The Ösa, the soon-to-be launched model in the lineup, continues the off-grid mentality, offering independence with a powerful battery and multiple outlets. Off-the-grid exploration offers an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and the Gates carbon fiber belt drive system enhances the experience with the absence of chain noise.

“CAKE’s mission is to inspire towards zero emission while combining excitement and responsibility, by developing light, quiet, and clean high performance electric off-road motorcycles. Our motto is to Explore with Respect, and Gates’ belt drive system helps us get one step closer to honoring this sentiment as it is quiet, needs no grease, never rusts or stretches. It is an ideal drivetrain for off-grid adventures that require lightweight and durable components,” said Stefan Ytterborn, founder and CEO of CAKE.
