Yamaha Produces Ten-Millionth Motorcycle in Taiwan

Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. has announced that local Group company Yamaha Motor Taiwan co., Ltd (YMT) has now produced its ten-millionth motorcycle since the company’s establishment in 1987.

Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. has announced that local Group company Yamaha Motor Taiwan co., Ltd (YMT) has now produced its ten-millionth motorcycle since the company’s establishment in 1987.

 

YMT was established in 1987 as a local subsidiary of Yamaha Motor for motorcycle production in Taoyuan City of northern Taiwan, and mainly produces scooters for Taiwan and Japan. The annual production volume in 2016 was 330,000 units, of which 250,000 were for Taiwan and 80,000 for overseas markets including Japan.

In Taiwan, the total number of motorcycles owned is more than 13 million units, with the country’s total population being 24 million people; the annual total demand for motorcycles is about 850,000 units (Yamaha Motor data, 2016). In Taiwan, scooters are widely used as a means of transportation in everyday life.
