WELD has announced the all-new DM58 UTV race wheel. First shown by WELD President and CEO, Norm Young, at the 2015 PRI Trade Show, the DM58 is named in honor of the late Dalton Millican. The 22-year old son of NHRA Top Fuel Racer Clay Millican, Dalton died Aug. 13, 2015 as a result of a motorcycle crash.
Dalton was one of Clay and Donna Millican’s two sons and had a long relationship with HiPer Technology as an ATV racer. Among his notable achievements in the sport was capturing the 2011 AMA ATV MX450A Championship on HiPer wheels. Dalton was also the driver of Blue Thunder in the Monster Jam series.
The new DM series wheel combines WELD’s aircraft quality forged alloy technology with HiPer’s Super Structural Carbon Fiber. The wheel is available for sale now and is stocked in 14×6, 14×7, 14×8 and 14×10 inch sizes with multiple offsets available. This is the first HiPer Technology by WELD wheel, and it mates the best of HiPer’s super structural carbon fiber with aircraft quality forged WELD alloys. To honor Dalton’s memory, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of each wheel will be donated to the Millican family’s charity of choice.
Clay Millican was on hand for the news conference and accepted the first DM series wheel from Young with a heavy heart. He thanked WELD for this special gift in honor of his son. In addition, he asked everyone in the audience at PRI to make sure they let all the important people in their life know that they care about them, “because things can change in an instant and you may never get another chance to let them know.”
Clay Millican is a longtime WELD brand ambassador.
