Synchrony Financial and KYMCO USA Partner to Provide Consumer Installment Financing

Synchrony Financial, a consumer financial services company, has announced a new, multi-year agreement to provide installment lending programs with KYMCO.

KYMCO USA distributes Scooters, ATVs and Side by Sides available through more than 600 dealer locations nationwide. The agreement will provide installment financing for purchasers of new and used KYMCO products, strengthening Synchrony Financial’s position in the powersports market.

“Consumers looking to make major purchases such as the products that KYMCO USA sells are diligent when making these decisions, and the availability of promotional financing plays a key role in that thought process,” said Stephen Motta, general manager, Powersports, Synchrony Financial. “Our research* shows that powersports consumers are primarily driven by quality products, but the availability of financing is a critical component of the purchasing decision.”

A 2014 study commissioned by Synchrony Financial of powersports customers explores the path to purchase and shows that, while value is important, the majority of shoppers choose a brand based on quality and trust. Further, consumers surveyed said installment financing allows them to budget for a large purchase, know what their monthly payments will be, and keep other credit lines free for emergency and everyday uses.

The Sturgis Motorcycle Museum and Hall of Fame recently named Marilyn Stemp and Steve Piehl to its board of directors.

Stemp is a pioneering figure in the motorcycle industry, founding IronWorks Magazine with her late husband, Dennis, and becoming the first female editor of a nationally circulated, mainstream motorcycle magazine. She also revived their trade magazine, Iron Trader News; edits the monthly Kiwi Indian News; contributes to several powersports media outlets; and is the founding editor of Sturgis Rider Daily. Stemp is a noted editor and writer of several motorcycle-focused books. Her consistent support for charitable efforts in the industry include the annual Biker Belles Celebration, Las Vegas BikeFest and as campaign chair for the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum’s development plan in 2014. She co-founded the Flying Piston charity events taking place in Daytona and Sturgis each year and is a National Ambassador for All Kids Bike. Stemp was inducted into both the Las Vegas Motorcycle Hall of Fame and the Sturgis Museum's Hall of Fame in 2018, and in 2022 she was recognized as one of the Top 100 Women in Powersports by DealerNews.
