Suzuki Unveils Iconic New 2020 Edition KATANA

Suzuki is aiming to repeat (and rewrite) history with its stunning new 2020 KATANA that will be delivered to dealers in 2019.

The original Katana 1100, introduced in 1981, combined in-line four-cylinder big-bore sportbike performance with never-seen-before styling that set a new benchmark in motorcycle aesthetics.

Paying tribute to that original machine, Suzuki unveiled an all-new KATANA for 2020 at INTERMOT on Tuesday (Oct. 2), which combines modern performance with a retro, yet contemporary look that is a throwback to the original. Fans of the first model as well as younger riders who appreciate bold design will be drawn to the new KATANA, according to the company. Coming as a 2020 model, the KATANA will be available in 2019.

Suzuki’s development team tested and tuned each component until they were satisfied the KATANA would deliver the optimal balance of power, comfort and control. At the heart of the KATANA’s performance is a new version of the championship-winning long-stroke GSX-R1000 engine. Maneuvering its compact, lightweight chassis instills confidence. The seat and optimized riding position are designed to enhance controllability and keep riders comfortable on longer outings.

Suzuki President Toshihiro Suzki introduces the new KATANA at INTERMOT on Tues., Oct. 2.
