Slingshot has introduced its 2017 lineup which includes a new premium SLR model, an expanded line-up of accessories focused on rider comfort and customization, including the new Slingshade, in addition to premium cockpit upgrades and new colors for the brand’s best selling SL model. With the launch of the new 2017 line-up, Slingshot continues to take pure driving freedom to the next level.

The 2017 Slingshot SLR is the most premium model in the line-up and the boldest Slingshot yet. Key features include lightweight forged aluminum wheels, a 305MM-wide rear tire, Sparco touchpoints in the cockpit and a custom two-tone paint scheme. Available in two eye catching colors, Orange Madness and Turbo Silver, the Slingshot SLR brings a race inspired, factory customized roadster to the Slingshot line-up.

With the introduction of 31 new accessories, the roster of Slingshot Engineered Accessories also grows for 2017. Designed to meet the needs of Slingshot owners, a full range of accessories are available to meet owner’s style, comfort and storage needs. Headlining the new accessory line-up is the the all-new Slingshade – a removable sunshade that complements the raw, unfiltered exhilaration of the Slingshot’s open experience with the comfort of shade on the road.

The Slingshot lineup also introduces two new colors to the SL lineup for 2017 – Sunset Red and Black Pearl – as well as upgraded features and vehicle enhancements. In addition to the currently available standard SL features, the 2017 Slingshot SL adds a clear Ripper Series wind deflector, new accent hood graphics, cut-and-sew seats and a premium Rockford Fosgate speaker system. The standard 2017 Slingshot has an MSRP of $21,999, while the Slingshot SL carries a $25,499 suggested retail price.

“Slingshot’s new 2017 line-up takes the vehicle to the next level.  With the new SLR, premium upgrades on the SL and 31 new accessories, including the Slingshade, we are giving our customers more ways to personalize their experience and make Slingshot their own,” said Steve Menneto, President of Polaris Motorcycles. “Slingshot remains committed to redefining the on-road driving experience and I encourage everyone to get out and test ride the 2017 line-up today.”

Slingshot SLR details
Available in dealerships this August, the new SLR comes with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $28,499 and builds on Slingshot’s strong foundation of standard performance features. Key new features include:

  • Two-tone paint scheme with colored frame accents: Orange Madness and Turbo Silver
  • Full-body graphics
  • 305mm-wide rear tire (40mm wider than the standard/SL rear wheel)
  • Premium forged-aluminum wheels – 18-inch front wheels and 20-inch rear wheel
  • Sparco lightweight aluminum shift knob
  • Sparco pedal covers
  • Sparco steering wheel
  • Open air intake
  • Composite brake rotors
  • Interior LED lighting kit.

Like all Slingshot models, the SLR is constructed with a high-strength steel spaceframe and powered by a 173-hp 2.4-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine that drives the rear wheel via a five-speed manual transmission. The responsive combination delivers exhilarating acceleration and connects the driver and passenger to the road through a sophisticated double-wishbone front suspension and electronic power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering. All models also feature an electronic stability control system and disc brakes with ABS.

Owners can make Slingshot their own with 31 new Slingshot Engineered Accessories, including the revolutionary new Slingshade. The Slingshade is designed to flow with the lines of the distinctively styled Slingshot, complementing its form with uncompromising function – including removable T-top panels. The panels also feature tinted windows that retain overhead views and help illuminate the open cockpit. A lightweight frame and compact dimensions make the Slingshade easily removable and stowable for those times when only a totally open road experience will do.

Other Slingshot Engineered Accessories include styling enhancements, tech and audio components, storage options, wind deflectors, riding gear, helmets, driving jackets and street wear. Most of the vehicle accessories are offered in a variety of factory color-matched options.
