Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Adam Cianciarulo ascended to the top step of the podium almost three years to the date of his last supercross win in 2014, leading wire-to-wire in his hometown race at Daytona International Speedway. After recovering from injuries the past three years, Cianciarulo finally felt vindication taking his fourth career victory. The podium celebration was even sweeter as teammate Joey Savatgy made it a 1-2 Pro Circuit domination with the duo crossing the finish line over 10 seconds ahead of third place.
Leading into the main event, Cianciarulo rode consistently as he qualified third in practice and came out of his heat in fourth. When the gate dropped for the 250SX main event, both Cianciarulo and Savatgy jumped to the front with Cianciarulo taking over the lead just a few corners in. He never looked back, rode hard the entire 15 laps and came away with his fourth career victory.
“Getting hurt a few times in a row can make you have those doubts [if you’ll win again],” said Cianciarulo. “It’s hard to come from the bottom and get back to the top. It’s the accumulation of so many people, so many hours of work that have pushed me to get here. It’s hard to describe but it’s an incredible feeling to be back on the podium.”
