[dropcap]O[/dropcap]ur latest survey of powersports dealers indicates that the retail sales environment in the powersports industry was sluggish in August. While dealers received a lift in traffic early in the month from end-of-the-year sales promotions, consumer traffic trailed off as the month continued.
As a result, dealers were not able to materially improve their inventory position relative to how they see demand trending. A common theme during the month was the RZR stop ride/stop sale putting a damper on demand. Moreover, dealers who tested Can-Am’s Maverick X3 raved about the machine’s capabilities and noted the recreational UTV can be the first real competition for Polaris’ RZR turbo.
Additionally, we continue to hear that a growing amount of the sales volume is coming from lower price point units, including secondary brands like CFMOTO, Husqvarna, HiSUN, and KYMCO. Until next time.
